A private consultation with Dr. Seth Blacksburg, a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in prostate cancer, for patients facing a new diagnosis, rising PSA, recurrence question, or conflicting recommendations. Records are reviewed in advance, options are explained clearly, and a written summary follows the visit.
Selected brain and spine tumor or radiosurgery questions may also be appropriate for review.
The consultation can help guide care whether treatment occurs with Dr. Blacksburg, another specialist, or an outside center.

Prostate cancer decisions often come at moments of pressure: a new diagnosis, a rising PSA, a complicated scan, a recommendation for surgery or radiation, or a recurrence question after prior treatment. A private consultation gives patients and families time to step back, review the records, and understand what the reasonable options actually are.
Dr. Blacksburg reviews imaging, pathology, PSA history, prior treatments, outside recommendations, and the questions that matter most to the patient. The visit, conducted by secure video or in person where appropriate, is designed to clarify what is known, what remains uncertain, what the trade-offs are, and what should be answered before moving forward.
The goal is not simply to choose a procedure. It is to understand the full decision: cancer control; urinary, bowel, sexual, hormonal, and quality-of-life considerations; the timing of treatment; whether additional testing is needed; and which specialist, physician, center, or care pathway may be best suited for the next step.
When appropriate, Dr. Blacksburg may recommend in-person evaluation, additional imaging or testing, referral to another clinician, or consultation through an appropriate institution or treatment center.

Dr. Seth Blacksburg is a board-certified radiation oncologist with a clinical focus in prostate cancer, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and radiosurgery. He is an Adjunct Professor of Radiation Oncology at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine and previously served as Chairman of Radiation Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and Medical Director of the NYCyberKnife Center.
Much of his academic and clinical work has centered on prostate cancer decision-making, prostate SBRT, and complex radiation oncology questions. He helped build one of the country's largest single-institution prostate SBRT research databases and has published and presented nationally on treatment outcomes, toxicity, PSA kinetics, salvage treatment, and complex clinical scenarios.
Dr. Blacksburg is also a physician educator who has served as a national course director, invited lecturer, and faculty member for physician education in prostate SBRT, radiosurgery, and advanced radiation oncology. His work has included teaching clinicians how to evaluate patients, interpret evidence, discuss trade-offs, and safely integrate advanced radiation approaches into care.
Beyond individual patient care, he has advised oncology programs, collaborated with leading physicians across academic and community settings, and helped shape educational, clinical, and research initiatives in radiation oncology and neuro-radiosurgery. That broader perspective informs his consultation style: careful record review, treatment-neutral explanation, and attention to both cancer control and quality of life.
Through Blacksburg Oncology PC, Dr. Blacksburg offers private consultations for patients and families seeking a clearer understanding of the diagnosis, the reasonable options, the trade-offs, and the next best questions to ask before moving forward.
